Industrial Hygiene Laboratory has been functioning under Factories & Boilers Inspection Department for proper monitoring of the health of workers employed in various factories carrying out chemical and hazardous process in the State.
For this purpose proper assessment of work environment of the factory, evaluation and monitoring of air-borne contaminations in the above type of factories such as foundries, refineries, metal furnace, heat treatment industries, cement industries and other factories which use various gases in its manufacturing process etc. is done by way of taking onsite air samples. Air sampling is carried out using the field kit. The Work Environment Monitoring program is periodic.
The analysis of air sample and monitoring results are recorded in a systematic manner. Factory management is informed about the results to take remedial actions whenever Permissible levels of certain chemical substances in work environment found to be exceeded in the monitoring.
